Image caption auto-numbering

Using MMD within Scrivener, the caption to my inline image automatically acquires the word "Figure" and a number beginning at 0.1.

How would I go about changing the auto-numbering, either to a simple integer sequence, or to capture the chapter number as a prefix?

Is it possible to change the word to "Fig."?

Many thanks.

That's a LaTeX issue, not technically a MultiMarkdown issue. LaTeX is highly configurable, and I'm confident it can be changed to work the way you like.

Google will definitely be your friend here.
