Hi,

I'm using MMD 5.4.0 via Scrivener to produce Latex. I'm trying to trying to escape an asterisk inside an emphasis. I was trying to use the standard Markdown Backslash escape, but it does not work when exporting to Latex, that is \*text and *text* work as expected, but *\*text* will come out as \emph{\textbackslash{}}text* instead of \emph{*text}.

This page
https://github.com/adam-p/markdown-here/issues/287
suggested using the HTML code * as workaround, but it does not translate to Latex.

I assume this is a faulty or incomplete implementation, but maybe there is another workaround I couldn't think of?

Thanks for the support

    Thanks for writing in.

As you may have heard, MMD-6 is now in public alpha (really more beta at
this point). I'm not developing MMD-5 further.

Your specific example should work fine in MMD-6, but let me know if you
    find problems.

    Thanks!

I can confirm that MMD 6 does solve that issue (plus others!). Thanks
