installing older multimarkdown version (3.5)
Hi there,
I'm still using a 2006 white Intel Core Duo MacBook with Snow Leopard on it. I installed the latest version of MMD and Scrivener stopped compiling to LaTeX. It throws out this error:
"NSTask: Task create for path '/Applications/Scrivener.app/Contents/MacOS/MultiMarkdown/bin/multimarkdown' failed: 22, "Invalid argument". Terminating temporary process. "
And crashes.
As I figured out, it was due to the fact (as seen from other discussions on the net) that i'm on a 32-bit architecture and the latest MMD requires 64-bit (on entering 'multimarkdown -v' command in Terminal I got a 'Bad CPU' error).
I'm now trying to install an older version of MMD so I can go back to my previous workflow (MMD - LaTeX) in Scrivener. I deleted all the multimarkdown files from /usr/local/bin. However, when I try to install one of the previous versions (e.g., Multimarkdown-Mac-3.5.pkg), the installer says:
"Multimarkdown can't be installed on this disk. A newer version of this software already exists on this disk."
I tried to see if there were other mmd files left somewhere but couldn't locate any. And I restarted my laptop, but to no avail.
Any ideas on what can be preventing me from installing the older version in this case? The deadline for my academic report is approaching soon and any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Davis

Package installers leave a receipt in one of your Library folders
~/Library/Receipts
/Library/Receipts
If you delete the receipt for the installer, it should reinstall.
There are also utilities that will allow you to "look inside" installer packages and extract the files. You can then manually install the individual files.

Thanks a lot for the speedy response.
I used Pacifist to access the files and extracted them to usr/local/bin, and now Scrivener MMD to LaTeX works again!
(At first I tried to locate the multimarkdown receipt, but the only thing I could find was a log item in '/Library/Receipts/InstallHistory.plist'. Deleting the multimarkdown entry there didn't help.)
And I just wanted to say that I really like MMD - thanks for all your great work!
