licence MMD5 Composer for iOS
Hello Fletcher,
My licence for my iOS Composer runs out all the time. It would be so nice to be able to opt for timely announcements to install a newer version of the Composer both in macOS and iOS, preempting error messages.
Thank you,
Adrian

Adrian,
First -- good to hear from you!!
Composer5 will automatically notify you when a new version is available. Because it is still in beta (hopefully not for much longer), each release does expire. This will not be the case with a "real" release.
Composer for iOS isn't even in beta. It could charitably be described as an alpha release, but even that might be a bit much. You're one of two people besides myself who have installed it.
I guess it's good to hear that you notice when it expires? It means that you're not completely ignoring it. :)
I use the iOS versions of Composer and nvUltra very infrequently, but when I need it I need it.... So I don't do a good job of pushing new releases out to TestFlight very often, and it will (frequently) expire without a new release being available.
When there is a new release available, TestFlight will automatically notify you.
My issue is that I am not happy with the way the apps work at the moment. I need to get nvUltra finalized with Brett, MMDComposer 5 for macOS finalized (which will be quick once nvUltra is done), and then readdress the UI for the iOS and iPadOS versions into something I am happy with. That will help motivate me to do a better job of keeping the TestFlight builds going until it's actually "in production."
I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about the iOS app -- what is it that keeps you using it? What changes would you like to see to make it a better app? etc? Like I said, only a couple of people have used it, so there's no feedback yet.

Dear Fletcher,
Many thanks for your much swifter answer than mine. Please accept my apologies, but I am going through a bundle of serious problems, which stress me maybe more than one single tragedy would.
I too, like you, use the iOS version of the Composer very seldom, especially now, when I have an iPhone only, and no iPad anymore, just for jotting down things in a hurry and, to be honest, out of loyalty to an application (the macOS version) which I very much like.
In my opinion, the main reason d’être of an iOS version of Composer is the (hopefully) finely granulated way of embedding one-directionally files from the iOS version to the macOS version.
The ease of such embedding, eventually having in the macOS version specific placeholders and version keeping, will be the only base of attracting macOS Composer users to avail themselves also the iOS version.
All in all, I totally agree with you, Fletcher, that for the moment the iOS Composer version may remain on the back burner.
I will answer in a moment also to your other e-mail, which is (probably not only for me) much more important.
All the best, and thank you,
Adrian

Dear Fletcher,
Thank you for the latest version of MMDComposer5. I am sorry that I did not react earlier, as I have travelled most of the last months, and I will stop with this agitation only mid-September.
About tables (a matter which we have discussed before) there are two issues which I would like to suggest:
allow for a whole table to be not only left-adjusted (as it is now the case), but also right-adjusted, centre-adjusted, and justified (which would mean, that the table should be as wide as the typing area).
it would be additionally wonderful to be able to determine which lines inside a table are visible, and which are not. In the example I add here, I would like to have visible the vertical line separating the first column from the second, and none others.
The first issue is more important, I find, not only for myself, but also for others.
I attach a few files regarding a stripped down example, to show especially that only left-adjusting a whole table is possible at the moment.
Is it still possible to address at least the first issue above? Is the second one too difficult to deal with? Separating the hot and cold columns with a visible vertical line (all other table lines remaining invisible) would be great.
A general issue, as long as MMD Composer 5 for macOS is still in the beta-stage: I use the Composer under macOS 11.6.3 running on a an intel MacBookPro (2019) which I try not to connect to the internet at all for security reasons. Is it possible for you to block the automatic expiring, and maybe replace it with the announcement that a newer version is available (if connected to the internet)? This would be very helpful for me, as I would not depend anymore on a second Apple computer. As soon as the matured MMD Composer will be for sale, I will buy it then, so what I’d like to have is an interim solution.
Thank you for your creating and continuing to develop MMD Composer 5 and its rendering in Marked2.
All the best,
Adrian

Adrian,
I hope you’re doing well. And no worries — there are times where I can also be very responsive to email, and times where that is more challenging.
Re: tables
1. I believe you are referring to the table itself, not the text (since your example used the MMD table syntax to control text within the columns.). Moving a table within the page (e.g. left align, center, right align, etc.) is the purview of CSS, not MultiMarkdown. You can customize your CSS to do whatever you like.
2. Same thing with changing which lines are visible and hidden. That is a matter for CSS.
3. As for Composer betas — they do announce when a new version is released. When development is slower, a new version might not be released until I am reminded that the expiration date is approaching. In that case, the expiration reminder will appear before a new version reminder…. However, I do want to keep the beta versions as expiring betas. They are not intended for long term use since there is no mechanism for paying for them. Due to some factors with nvUltra, it has taken longer than expected for Composer 5 to be finalized.
Thank you for understanding,
Fletcher
